How to Apply Lipstick and Lip Liner

Among the makeups that are being applied on the face, the lipstick should be the one not to be forgotten. It is the finishing touch that is done at the end of every make up session. Using lipstick and liner give emphasis on the contour of the lips making it more defined and perfect.

After the eyes, the lips are the second part of the face that most individual notices when they look at you. Therefore it is important to know how to apply lipstick and lip liner for that beautiful lip.

Learning how to apply lipstick is just easy as long as you know what you want. Choose the shade of lipstick that is appropriate for you. Opting for a neutral shade of the lipstick that will complement your lips can be used in an ordinary day to day basis.

You can never go wrong when you use neutral colors that will make your make up appear to be natural. For a day at work, it is best to use a matte lipstick as to make it simple and fresh all day long.

If you are planning to go out for the night, a satin and lip gloss as the finishing touches will give the spark and appealing approach to your lips.

Applying the lipstick and lip liner should be the last part of your make up application routine. Moisturize your lips first by applying a small amount of lip balm or petroleum jelly.

Your lips will be covered with lipstick all throughout the day, therefore keeping it hydrated and moisturized is important. Some lip balm contains natural vitamins that can keep your lips healthy, while petroleum jelly can prevent your lips from drying and cracking.

Using a lip liner that is one shade darker than your lipstick, make a thin line alongside the edges of your lips. Begin at the upper part of the lip from the center going outwards. If you have thin lips, concentrate on the outer edges to open up the lips a little bit making it look more full and plump.

Using a small lipstick brush, apply the lipstick on your lips. If you are uncomfortable using a lipstick brush, you can apply the lipstick directly from the tube to your lips. Make sure to cover all parts of the lips evenly.

Focus on the edges, making sure you have applied the lipstick equally on both sides. Using a clean tissue paper, blot the lips to remove excess color and to maintain the texture evenly. A lip gloss can then be applied if you prefer to add a little shimmer on the texture of the lips.

Applying lip gloss will also ensure that the lipstick will last a little longer on your lips.
Knowing how to apply lipstick is not enough, because you should also know how to take care of the lipstick on your lips.

After eating or drinking, most likely you lipstick will stain or remain on the glasses or spoon and fork that you have used, therefore it is important to check your lips if the lipstick is still intact. If not, a retouch session is required.
