How to Cure Hiccups

Although hiccups is not something that can be alarming, it is useful to know certain ways on how to cure it, since there are situations when you do not want to experience them, such as when you are about to speak in front of a large crowd, or when there is something you need to talk about to someone that is very important. In relation to that, here are some of the popular ways that a lot of people are following, as far as getting rid of hiccups is concerned.

Simple Methods of Curing Hiccups

1. One of the easiest ways to cure hiccups is to take a very deep breath, hold it, swallow your saliva, and repeat it up to the third time while you are still holding your breath. The time consumed in doing this may vary from one person to another, which is why it is important that you take a very deep breath at the beginning.

The third time that you are going to swallow your saliva should be difficult enough for you to do, because if you find it quite easy, then you may not be executing the technique properly. This method works most of the time; however, it will require a few practices to get it done correctly.

hiccup2. If you have time to stop your hiccups at your own place, then this second method should work best for you. All you got to do is to go inside your bathroom. Go to where the toilet is located, and open its lid.

Make yourself gag by sticking your own finger into your throat. You need to do this until you really gag. There are times when you may feel like throwing up in doing this, but there is no need to worry, since it is quite normal, and it will get your hiccups cured.

3. If you are next in line to deliver a report and there is no way for you to go to the bathroom or get a glass of water while you are having hiccups, one of the ways that will help you with it immediately is to hold your breath for quite some time.

Before you do it, you need to take a deep breath, so that you will be able to hold your breath longer. When you can no longer help it, exhale slowly to get rid of the hiccups.

4. Sugar can also help you cure hiccups. All you need to do is to make use of a spoon to get some sugar, and hold it in your mouth in a period of 5 seconds. Swallow the spoonful of sugar and take a sip of water immediately.

This should help in controlling your hiccups; and if the first attempt is not successful, you can always repeat it again. These are the easiest ways of curing hiccups. Take note of them, since there is no telling when hiccups would attack.
